Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with laboratory operations practiced in the Pennington Biomedical Research Center on the campus of Louisiana State University, we provide services such Cancer Genetics Testing, Pharmacogenetics Testing, Carrier Screening, and Respiratory Pathogen Panel Testing. We believe our services are paving the way for individuals to gain a better understanding of their current health status and their risk for developing and spreading serious diseases through DNA analysis.
Analyzes your DNA sample to determine if you are at a higher risk for developing certain cancers by detecting key gene variants. These gene variants or mutations can be passed down from generation to generation. If you have family members who have been diagnosed with cancer, this test will determine whether you have gene mutations that are hereditary. If you have had cancer, your test results may also help you understand your chances of passing cancer-linked gene mutations down to your children and grandchildren. Gather more in-depth information by visiting our Cancer Genetics Test page.
Inspects your DNA specimen to discover medications that are right for you personally. Your test results can help you and your healthcare provider to avoid guesswork when you are considering new medications and quickly locate the most optimal choice for treating your condition(s). By performing a PGx test and knowing which medications are most suitable for you based on your results, you will save time and eliminate side effects that come from taking potentially harmful and ineffective meds. Learn more about the study of pharmacogenetics and how this test may benefit you by visiting our full-length Pharmacogenetics Test page.
Designed for individuals and partners who are pregnant and/or planning on having children, carrier testing discovers whether soon-to-be parents carry specific gene mutations that can potentially be passed down to an unborn child, which can cause a number of life-long medical conditions. By performing the carrier test, you will gain an understanding of the risk you may have for your child developing genetic conditions such as spinal muscular atrophy, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell diseases and other similar genetic conditions. Following the test, you can plan ahead if your results and the results of your spouse or partner do come back positive. Obtain a greater understanding of carrier genetics by visiting our in-depth Genetic Carrier Screening page.
Investigates genetic material of pathogens found within viral/bacterial infections of the upper and lower respiratory tracts. If you are having flu-like symptoms and suspect you may have a respiratory infection, RPP testing will diagnose your specific illness, which can range from Covid-19, respiratory synchytial virus (RSV), and flu. If left untreated these illnesses can potentially lead to long-term conditions such as chronic bronchitis, COPD, and a number of other severe respiratory diseases. RPP testing provides you with expedited and accurate results to allow yourself and your healthcare provider to properly treat your respiratory infection. Visit our in-depth Respiratory Pathogen Panel Test page for more information.
Prior to sending your testing kit to you, we will thoroughly review your insurance to make sure your insurance plan will in fact provide coverage for your genetic test. Our company works well with most Medicare, Med Advantage, and Medicaid insurance plans as well as some commercial plans. Steps for getting in touch with your insurance company regarding matters of billing for your genetic test will take place following your completion of your test and only after you have received your results. We make the process hassle-free for you as we will handle contacting your insurance company and ensuring accuracy on your billing statement for the specific service that has been provided to you.
Once your insurance is approved for genetic testing through our lab, we will send a requisition form to your healthcare provider. This form will contain an Apollo Genetics logo in the top left corner, your information, and 3 small sections for your provider to complete. These sections include choosing a panel in section 5, filling in medical code(s) in section 6, and their signature in section 10. Our provider integrations teams will follow up with your provider's office to help them understand how to fill out the form. In most cases, they will have the form ready to send back within a week or two. By reaching out to them with a quick phone call to inform them of your interest in your test, you can speed up this step in the process significantly. As soon as we receive the completed form back, we will ship your testing kit directly to your home.
